INDONESIA Sandiaga open to working with Widodo. Sandiaga Uno, the running mate of presidential challenger Prabowo Subianto, reportedly said he is open to working with President Joko Widodo if he is confirmed as the winner in the presidential election and makes an offer. In an interview with Bloomberg, Sandiaga said he would put the national interest first no matter what the outcome of the April 17 election. “The interest of the country is first and foremost. It’s about how we can deliver the best impact…We’ll have these conversations after May 22,” Bloomberg quoted Sandiaga as saying. Sandiaga’s openness to working for the Widodo government that Prabowo may not be able to rely on his present political allies to stand by him once Widodo officially starts his second term. The General Election Commission is expected to announce Widodo and his running mate, Ma’ruf Amin, as the winners in the presidential election by May 22. The quick counts of reputable polling organizations show that Widodo and Ma’ruf won with 9%-10% lead over their opponents.
